1910 Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (German Expressionist, 1880-1938) Artiste Marcella.
1) Post an image of EXPRESSIONISM that you find interesting. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
2) What are two aspects about this artwork that makes it a successful example of EXPRESSIONISM ?
Lack of positive enthusiasm and a dominance of a general colour.
Also, lots of negative space.
3) What is an aspect that could be CHANGED to make it more successful?
Nothing really, but maybe a cigarette and some smoke. But usually, in these types of paintings, there are creepy and grotesque figures popping out of nowhere.
4) What is the focal point of the artwork?
It's hard to say, but it slightly differs from the center to the near top right to the bottom left. But do definitely state, the near top right. Because then your eye will travel down diagonally to the left. Especially because there is a bright cat that stands out. Yet is a comfort to behold.
5) What Principle of Art is being utilized in the artwork?
I'm going to have to say Harmony on this one. I think this is because of all the contrast of items that do have a relationship or connection rather, to each other that makes this piece a whole. Although not unity, and especially with the displeasing moral of the figurers, they combine to feel a sense of coop. Comfort perhaps, but not to a complete pleasing manner.
I feel like this artwork describes my life. It's just so familiar of a scene.
