Next project: Ceramics… start thinking about ideas
1. Find a ART MUSEUM that you would like to go to if you could (not worrying about cost of travel). List the Art Museum, location, website link, and what type of collection(s) are at this museum. Post an image if one is available of the museum.
Address: 1625 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85004
Web Address: http://www.phxart.org/
It displays international exhibitions alongside its comprehensive collection of more than 18,000 works of American, Asian, European, Latin American, Western American, modern and contemporary art, and fashion design. A community center since 1959, it hosts year-round programs of festivals, live performances, independent art films and educational programs. It also features PhxArtKids, an interactive space for children; photography exhibitions through the museum’s partnership with the Center for Creative Photography; the landscaped Sculpture Garden; dining and shopping.
2. Why did you choose this museum?
Because it caught my attention for no reason in particular and just wanted to try out something not too spazzy.
3. Choose one 2-dimensional artwork within their collection and describe it using the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Why did you choose this artwork? Post an image and Credit line information for the artwork as well.
The element of line is used i the background for the sidewalk. The form is interesting because it partially shown the other bodies yet some clumped together. That is the space involved. The texture of the shirt combines perfectly with the variety of value. Perhaps and emphasis for the man in the foreground and his blue-ish shirt.
Because it caught my attention suddenly when I was viewing the gallery, and the way that it was just composed, I like the way white is used for value contrasting against the actual colour. That's enough for now.
4. Choose one 3-dimensional artwork within their collection and describe it using the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Why did you choose this artwork? Post an image and Credit line information for the artwork as well.
It has a very simple structure visually-wise. For it is round, almost spherical with a cylinder shaft on the top, with a snout-like spout.
Very simple/practical form. There are china blue illustrations of a tiger/dragon it seems.
With lotus/cloud patter revolving around. The main image, combined with the patterns helps give rhythm. A religious art.
Because I saw this and it peaked my interest So I decided to do some research and I found out that this piece is of importance in Buddism. And so I decided that art of religion should be included in these blogs and there it is.
5.Knowing that there are 6 weeks left in the semester, and we have to finish the Printmaking Project and work on our ceramics project AND choose your final project… what do you plan on doing for your ceramics project/ your choice project?
I really have no clue but hopefully the "inspiration" will hit me thought.
